| Present Research Fields and Aim |
|
|
| @We are studying liquid crystals (LCs) to develop new frontier of LC science and functional devices based on physics and chemistry of LCs. We opened new era of LC science by the discoveries of new phases such as anitferroelectric and its subphases, chiral cubic phase and many phases of bent-core mesogens by introducing novel intermolecular interactions. As for applications, we are conductiong a variety of trials such as tunable laser utilizing photonic effect of dye-doped cholesteric LCs, electro-optic effect and optical swiches using bent-core and antiferroelectric LCs and optical nano-structured devices using photocurable LCs. |
